EGS DC, J.P. Morgan, and ClearPath Host the American Geothermal Opportunity
EGS DC partnered with J.P. Morgan and ClearPath to host the American Geothermal Opportunity—a timely convening of industry leaders and policymakers focused on the technological advancements, market dynamics, and policy landscape needed to accelerate the deployment of enhanced geothermal systems (EGS).
Bipartisan leadership and industry alignment were on full display, with insights from Senator Brian Schatz (D-HI), Senator Steve Daines (R-MT), Tim Latimer and Michael Johnson underscoring the critical role geothermal can play in strengthening and diversifying the U.S. energy mix. As power demand continues to rise, EGS is increasingly recognized as a firm, clean, and domestic energy solution capable of meeting the moment.
The discussion made clear that geothermal is at a turning point: the technology is working and demand is accelerating, but policy and financing structures have not kept pace. Early-stage project risk, slow and inconsistent permitting, and interconnection delays remain the primary barriers to scale. Throughout, leaders emphasized key unlocks for the sector to capitalize on the moment and increase deployment, including:
Advancing permitting reform
Expanding access to capital and improving commercial structures
De-risking investment in next-generation geothermal
Strengthening interconnection processes and agency capacity
Increasing public and stakeholder awareness
EGS DC thanks those who joined the conversation and looks forward to continuing to partner with industry stakeholders and policymakers to drive forward-thinking energy policy solutions.
